Oat flour is a versatile and simple homemade ingredient that you can easily prepare in your kitchen, ensuring it's gluten-free and free from cross-contamination. Remember that flour's high fiber content allows it to absorb liquids more than wheat or all-purpose flour. This means you'll need to adjust the liquid amounts in your recipes when substituting oat flour for wheat or all-purpose flour. To achieve the right structure, increase the liquid ratio and add leavening agents like baking powder or soda, as well as eggs, chia eggs, or flax eggs. Start with 3/4 cup of oat flour for every 1 cup of wheat or all-purpose flour and make adjustments as needed.
