Almond Flour Information & Recipe
Almond Flour is a simple ingredient you can whip up at home. Just like Oat Flour, all you need is raw unsalted almonds, high-speed blender or food processor. In just several minutes, you'll have fresh homemade almond flour ready to use in your favorite recipes!

Almond flour is a favored ingredient in baking for various reasons: it’s ideal for those with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity and is packed with vitamin E, magnesium and antioxidants. Additionally, the magnesium present in almond flour contributes to numerous bodily functions and can provide several benefits, including improved blood sugar control, lower insulin resistance, and reduced blood pressure.
When replacing wheat or all-purpose (AP) flour with almond flour, it's essential to note that it's not a simple one-to-one substitution. Almond flour denser and gluten-free, which means it doesn't provide the binding characteristics found in wheat or AP flour.
Many experts suggest starting with1/2 to 3/4 cup almond flour for each cup of wheat all-purpose flour. Begin with a smaller amount of almond flour and adjust as to ensure the dough or batter achieves the desired consistency for the best texture and structure in your baked.
Also, remember that almond flour absorbs more moisture than regular flour, so you may need to increase the liquid in your recipes. This extra moisture helps keep goods from drying out too quickly. Additionally, incorporating rising agents like baking soda and/or baking powder, or eggs, chia eggs, or flax eggs is crucial for maintaining structure.
How to make Almond Flour:
-
Using a high-powered blender or food processor, blend the almonds for roughly 1-2 minutes until fine and powdery. *Avoid over blending or the nuts will start to release their oils and you will end up with nut butter.
-
Steve the almonds to remove any lumps of nuts. You can add the leftover bits and use them in smoothies or as a snack.
-
Store in an airtight container for about 6-8 weeks. For longer lasting results, keep in the fridge.
